You know what the best part of WWE is right now? NXT and it isn’t even close. Well 205 Live has been great for a little while now. These have one thing in common, and that these are the brain children of Paul Levesque better know as Triple H. He has been the one taking the pictures with the new champions, the new signees, and calls the shot. I just finished watching the 2018 WWE UK Championship tournament, and there he was in the middle of the entire roster.
It’s the show of shows, the greatest spectacle of sports entertainment, the grandest stage of them all, WRESTLEMANIA!...... It’s been rather lackluster the past few years hasn’t it? This is when we are supposed to get the biggest matches in WWE, the ones they have been building up for a whole year, yet they never seem to get to this point do they? WWE has a tendency to pull the trigger on something special either to early or to late recently. Remember when Rusev Day was the number one thing for a long time on Smackdown in late 2017? Rusev is just now getting to have the biggest match of his career. That being said, lets say WWE does try to build up some rivalries to the point people can invest in them up to Wrestlemania. These are my predictions on the card, but I guarantee that half of these will be wrong. I have no Triple H match, no John Cena match, and no Undertaker match simply because I can’t see them facing anyone that people could really invest in them. And looking at the card, I don’t have Miz on there simply because I can not think of any good matchup for him on the show. Also, as I stated in my Wrestle Kingdom 13 predictions article, I do think The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega will be in WWE by this point, yet I am leaving them off the card for now. Finally, there is no Brock Lesnar anywhere near this card, as he will be back in UFC at this time.
January 4th has become one of my favorite days of the year, and if it wasn’t for Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega 1 I may not have gotten back into wrestling. I am a massive fan of NJPW and whenever I’m given the chance, I look to see what New Japan shows I have to catch up on (because getting up at 2am to watch it live every time is a bit of a stretch). New Japan is one of the hottest promotions in the world, maybe the hottest or 2nd hottest next to NXT. Looking at the promotion itself, the only fault for it is the lack of names especially in the Junior Heavyweight Division. But that being said, I think that Wrestle Kingdom 13 is going to be one of the best shows of the year. We are halfway through the year, so let’s try and predict the card a half a year away. Yes over half of these predictions will be wrong, but some of these will work if some of my predictions for the overall year of 2019 in wrestling. On to the predictions!
It only feels like yesterday that Supercard Of Honor took place but here we are at Best In The World 2018 where the card is stacked with average to brilliant match-ups so let’s begin the predictions.
So I am not a regular watcher of NXT due to my work and school schedules. I am glad that is changing this semester. With that note, we are in a bit of a weird build to the next Takeover, as we only have roughly 2 months between the shows instead of the usual long build of 3-4 months. So with that being said, lets see how accurate I can get with these predictions. Also fair warning, there is some slight spoilers here as I do read spoilers from time to time.
Money in the Bank literally just ended, its about 11:30 PM where I’m at, so what I should do is probably go to bed so I can be a functioning adult on Monday morning. But what I am gonna do is write an article about what could be next for Shinsuke after losing at Money in the Bank. Wrestling is great isn’t it. (I can’t wait to drink like 8 coffees tomorrow morning).
Shinsuke just lost his 6th title match in a row, 7 if you include when he lost the NXT championship to Bobby Roode at Takeover: San Antonio. He lost twice to Jinder Mahal and now 4 times to AJ Styles. The issue with this is that he is now a phenomenal heel, but it somewhat feels like a squandered heel turn. I think that he should have won the title at least once at this point. Also I think everytime that I pick Shinsuke to win a match in the prediction league that I’m in he always losses, aside from the Royal Rumble. He is a wrestler that has proven to me, at least, that he should get a run for the big belt sooner rather than later. But now after 4 failed attempts at the big one, let's see what are Shinsuke’s options now.
Money In The Bank 2018 Predictions: Jack (c) Vs. David Vs. Ben
Later tonight Jack defends his newly won All Things Wrestling championship against “Impact Man” David Ayres and Ben Mawson. Money In The Bank looks decent but it’s time for their predictions.
It feels like there’s been a revival in WWE’s UK division since the announcement of the second UK tournament and with all the participants revealed, excitement awaits. There has been rumours of a WWE UK Show either in the network or on British television but what should WWE do with the UK division, let’s get into it.
Welcome to Dominion, it is currently 7:53am and I can’t wait to see how this show turns out! There’s a lot of hype surrounding this event so let’s not wait any further any kick the show off.
Yes, it's that time of the week where I review impact wrestling so strap yourself in cause this week had a lot of continuing feuds and setting up next week’s episode.
NJPW Dominion is tomorrow and the card is looking fantastic with dream matches like Chris Jericho against Tetsuya Naito, a rematch for the ages as Kenny Omega battles for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against the longest reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kazuchika Okada.
Hello I am Ben Mawson and welcome back to match review were this week we'll be reviewing War Machine vs The Briscoes on a normal episode of Ring Of Honor.
The WWE UK Tournament 2 is starting this Friday. So why don’t we all take a look at the contenders and the chances that they win the whole thing. Let’s start with the wrestlers with the lowest possibilities of winning.
Welcome to Rumble Reviews, where I Review Rumbles. This is the 6th Rumble and it’s the 1993 royal rumble. Where will this one end up on the leaderboard? That’s what it’s all about.
Hello I am Ben Mawson and welcome back to Match Reviews were this week we'll be reviewing CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio at Armageddon 2008, so let’s get into it.
After looking at both Womens titles, it's time to step it up a notch and look at the most prestigious championship in the WWE today, the WWE Championship, and if WWE keeps going down the path that they are seemingly following, then this could be the path that they are going down.
“This is the greatest moment of my life” those were the now famous words said from the nature boy, Ric Flair heading out of the 1992 royal rumble and it most likely was and the WWF championship was on the line so let’s see how it happened as we begin the 1992 royal rumble.
The British Bulldog drew number one and will kick off the match, can he win the WWF championship? Time will tell.
Ted DiBiase is next and comes out at number two. DiBiase immediately goes for Bulldog. The two have a little fight and The Bulldog eliminates the million dollar man.
Hello I am Ben Mawson and welcome back to match review, this week we'll be reviewing Edge,Mick Foloy and Lita vs Tommy Dreamer,Terry Funk and Beulah at ECW One Night Stand 2006.
WWE has announced the UK tournament and there is some good names in the pile like El Ligero who has circled the UK independent scene like a good sixty times. Travis Banks is also in there -despite originating from New Zealand but it’s got the UK flag in the flag so I guess that counts. Banks is the current PROGRESS champion. Joe Coffey has also been confirmed and that’s good business because if anybody can put on a good match, it’s Joe Coffey. The UK title scene can be built around Coffey and Joseph Conners is back so that’s another good thing. Zack Gibson will also make the tournament fascinating and I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited and I can’t wait for the tournament but for now, here’s ten wrestlers who can beat Pete Dunne for the UK title.
It’s time for the fourth rumble review and this week it’s the review of the 1991 rumble. A match which should be decent, it’s been a while since I’ve watched this one. So far, we’ve reviewed the first three rumbles which have been - let’s just call them acceptable with the 1990 one being my favourite in the set so far. Every rumble has been getting better and better so let’s see if 1991 can continue the pattern.
This week I'll be review Seth Rollins Vs Triple H at Wrestlemania 33 so let’s get right into it.
Triple H enters first with his 3 wheel moter bike and a convoy of police bikes before doing his water spray which mostonly lands on Stephanie McMahon.
This is followed by Rollins has his great gold attire and has the torch to set the ramp on fire. Kevin Dunne must have spent all day working on those graphics.
5 Potential Winners Of The Best Of The Super Juniors 2018
This Friday, NJPW has the annual best of the super juniors tournament where the winner fights the junior heavyweight champion at Dominion unless the champion wins then they get to pick their challenger, it’s a really cool concept with fantastic matches. I don’t know who’s going to win and I’m not even joking but here’s 5 potential winners for the tournament.
After watching the opening of Raw this week, I was inspired to write this. Let me say I think that Roman Reigns is good in the ring, I think most fans can agree on that. However, he doesn’t connect with the people in the crowd that are fans of true wrestling, the style of Styles, Bryan, Rollins, and so many more. The reason for this is how the WWE has been treating him since the Shield broke up. They are doing the same thing they did with John Cena in the mid 2000s and even Hulk Hogan to an extent in the 1980s. We are told to be fans of Reigns and that he is the guy, yet we as fans don’t want that. A great example is what happened on Raw the past few weeks. Jinder Mahal cost Roman a chance to be in the Money in the Bank ladder match. The next week Roman came out, showered by boos like usual, and when he and Jinder were brawling, when Jinder would hit Reigns, Jinder was cheered. The man that nobody thinks should be in the main event, got cheered over the guy that is supposed to be the face of the company.
This is the third review in the rumble review series and we’re onto the 1990 rumble. Every week, we check on the leaderboard which featured the best rumbles and in first place we have 1989 which is the second series. Can 1990 climb to first place? Stay tuned but for now, let’s review the 1990 royal rumble.
Dominion is right around the corner and the card is STACKED! The Young Bucks challenges Los Ingobernables De Jopan for the IWGP Tag Team Championships. Rey Mysterio has an opponent who hasn’t been named yet. Chris Jericho challenges for the IWGP intercontinental championship against Tetsuya Naito and for the fourth time, Kenny Omega fights Kazuchika Okada for Okada’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship. But will Dominion be the best show of the year? Let’s talk about that.
The show started off with a warning that was about Sami Callahan attacking Don Callis when Don was accepting an award at an independent promotion. Josh Matthews was giving out the warning and the way he delivered it I genuinely taught someone had died. I even knew about the attack but completely forgot about it. The board of Impact are discussing Callahan's future which is mentioned through out the show. Now onto the main show.
I’ve decided to move this series to a Friday morning because why wouldn’t you not want to kick off your weekend with a review about a wrestling show which aired a couple of days previous? I think it’s better this way so welcome to this Week In Ring Of Honor, let’s start things off with the Run-Down.
Hello I am Ben Mawson and welcome to a new series called BENXT where I review NXT. It’s called BENXT because I’m Ben and I Review NXT, it’s a creative play on words.
After Carmella’s successful cash in and the arrival of Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Asuka the Smackdown Women's Division has been turned on its head. And they still have Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Sonya Deville (I am very high on Sonya), they have a lot of directions that they may be heading. So here is where I think that they should be heading all the way to Wrestlemania KEY PLAYERS: Carmella, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Ronda Rousey
WWE Backlash was last night and I’m going to review it, Match by match. Who will walk out as champions? Who will walk out as the All Things Wrestling Prediction Championship? Jack or Ben? I’m Josh from All Things Combat and it’s time to review Backlash.
The Raw Women's Division is pretty stacked currently with the likes of Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, Ember Moon, Mickie James, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Ruby Riott, and a few others. So I thought looking at how things may shape up going to next year's Wrestlemania would be interesting. KEY PLAYERS: Nia Jax, Ruby Riott, Sasha Banks, Bayley
Bullet Club is fine right? Well the majority of it is. Don’t get me wrong, the elite is falling apart, like it’s a mess right now. I recently got asked who the leader of Bullet Club is and I don’t know anymore. Bullet Club is complicated, not to quote Marty Scurll or anything. Anyway, the Bullet Club has more than a handful of names in the Club so today we’re going to rank them worst to best.
Backlash is this Sunday and it truly is the best of both worlds. Cue the video package! We’ve all heard of the matches, Charlotte Vs. Carmella, AJ Styles Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Roman Reigns Vs. Samoa Joe but there’s one match not getting enough attention - no not Ruby Riottt Vs. Bayley but the true mainevent of Backlash, Jack Vs. Ben for the All Things Wrestling Prediction Championship. It truly is going to be a slober knocker so let’s get into their predictions.
We all know about the WWE network, god it gets more air time that Tye Dillinger. And yes, it does have the largest wrestling library but there’s still plenty of space for more content.
I’m Ben from All Things Combat and here is my top 10 things WWE should add to the network.
It’s back. It’s good to have it return so let’s start things off with the run-down.
The Run-Down:
*Intro*
Match 1: Josh “The Goods” Woods Vs. Chuckie T
Chuckie T is here to kick things off. Josh Woods is out next, I’m a fan of Woods. The match is very hard hitting with some big moves but it’s Chuckie T who gets the win after rolling Woods up after Woods locks in an arm bar.
Who doesn’t love a good rumble? The royal rumble has been an annual event for decades with dozens of winners having the chance to win gold at Wrestlemania. The royal rumble had to start somewhere and the first rumble was in 1988 and had 20 men.
Tag Team wrestling could not be hotter at the moment and it feels like Tag Team wrestling is everywhere. RAW & Smackdown has dozens, NXT has a good handful, impact wrestling has a good couple, New Japan has a good selection and ROH and a lot. Out of them all, what company has the best? Let’s see.
The G1 Climax is almost here which means the Wrestlekingdom 13 mainevent is almost set, the championship can change hands before the event but I doubt it will. If you’re unfamiliar with the G1Climax, let me explain it. The G1 Climax is pretty much a tournament but not a traditional one. Last year saw 20 wrestlers in the tournament with 10 going to Block A and the rest going to Block B. A wrestler in Block A needs to wrestle everybody else in that Block, same with Block B. The wrestlers with the biggest amount of points will clash in the finals for a chance at the IWGP heavyweight championship at Wrestlekingdom. Got it? Here’s 5 potential winners.
Everyone knew that when The Hardy Boyz returned at Wrestlemania the broken gimmick was never far away. However, legal issues held the whole concept back but now that Matt has been shown the light he quickly found a perfect enemy in Bray Wyatt. The two fought almost meaninglessly a couple of times until they crossed paths again in The Ultimate Deletion where Hardy won and Wyatt took a dip in the Lake of Reincarnation.
