Will Dominion Be The Best Show Of The Year?

Picture
Dominion is right around the corner and the card is STACKED! The Young Bucks challenges Los Ingobernables De Jopan for the IWGP Tag Team Championships. Rey Mysterio has an opponent who hasn’t been named yet. Chris Jericho challenges for the IWGP intercontinental championship against Tetsuya Naito and for the fourth time, Kenny Omega fights Kazuchika Okada for Okada’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship. But will Dominion be the best show of the year? Let’s talk about that.

Picture
Let’s start by talking about the matches. We briefly mentioned some of the matches but let’s actually talk about them. Hirooki Goto defends his NEVER Openweight championship in a triple threat against Michael Elgin and Taichi. This should be a great match and one I’m looking forward to watching. This is a match which I think is incredibly underrated and everybody’s kinda forgotten about.

I want to speak about Tetsuya Naito defending his intercontinental championship against Chris Jericho which is got a lot of eyes on the show because Jericho is a massive draw outside of WWE. Naito is a fantastic wrestler who has had a great career in NJPW and has held the top belt in the past. There’s always buzz when Jericho is associated with NJPW and after he attacked Naito at The New Year Dash, I was hoping we’d see a blowoff match but after days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, I gave up. Jericho was done with the promotion and the match wouldn’t happen, Jericho even clarified he was done in Japan on his twitter but Jericho has a tendency of dismissing information to throw us off the trail but after being confirmed for the Greatest Royal Rumble, it seemed like he cut ties with New Japan but the ties have been uncut and in just less than a month, Chris Jericho is fighting Tetsuya Naito and I can’t wait.

Finally, the mainevent is going to be absolutely brilliant. Kenny Omega goes to war with Kazuchika Okada for the fourth time. He failed the first, he failed the second, he beat him on the third but the title wasn’t on the line. Omega has proven that he can beat Okada but he hasn’t proven that he can beat him for the belt. Okada has had a GREAT title run, possibly the best in NJPW’s history? Debatable. This will most likely be the match of the night. It will be the match of the night and could even be match of the year. I’ve got a theory that this match will go past 2 hours and even could touch the third hour but that’s a bit far. But with New Japan you never know.

Now, will it be the best show of the year? I think it will. NJPW Dominion will go down as one of the best shows of 2018 and POSSIBLY of all time. We’ll see how that goes. But I do definitely think it will be the best show of the year.

That’s the article! What do you think? Do you think NJPW Dominion will be the best wrestling show of the year? Tell us on twitter or even on Facebook. I’ve been Josh from All Things Combat, the predictions for Dominion should be out on the second of June.
