Why I Think Darren Till Will Defeat Robert Whittaker
This Saturday, we see a middleweight bout between former middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker and Darren ‘The Gorilla’ Till. This is a very big fight and it’s a very exciting fight too as in my opinion, if Till wins then he should get a title shot however if Whittaker fights then I’d like to see him fight Jared Cannonier. Anyway, I’m getting sidetracked however I do have a prediction for this fight: I think Darren Till is going to beat Robert Whittaker and this is why.
Today, I watched Darren Till’s middleweight debut against Kelvin Gastelum and I was impressed. His Muay Thai skills are great, I liked the leg kicks, I liked the clinch work and I liked the elbows. Till’s striking is really great and in the Gastelum fight, he didn’t take any unnecessary risks which I was happy about. Whittaker is great, his ground and pounds are brutal, his striking’s great however he did go ten rounds with Yoel Romero which has impacted Whittaker’s career and if he gets hit with a clean straight left then I think Whittaker is going to hit the canvas.
How do I think the fight will go? I think it will start off quite fast actually and I think we will see Till knock Whittaker down in the opening round. I think Whittaker will try to hit Till early on. Till will land some leg kicks from the start I believe, he’ll show of some of his Muay Thai ability and I believe he’ll get a TKO victory either in the 3rd or 4th round. Would I be annoyed if Whittaker wins? Not at all, these fighters are both incredibly talented and they’ve got such great personalities. This is one of the rare fights in the UFC that you don’t care who wins, not because they’re irrelevant but because you don’t want any of them to lose.
