What’s next for Max Holloway?
After a fantastic run at feather winner, Max Holloway decided to make the jump to Lightweight to battle it out with Dustin Poirier for the vacant interim UFC Lightweight Championship and after a 5 round brawl, Poirier picked up the win so that’s begs the question; where should Holloway go from here?
First of all, I think Holloway is a good fighter at lightweight but he’s a small lightweight much like Henry Cejudo will most likely be a small bantamweight. Despite being a small lightweight, Holloway held his own and gave it his all against Dustin Poirier- a larger lightweight.
So what should Holloway do next? Should he return to featherweight and take on competitors such as Frankie Edgar, José Aldo, Alexander Volkanovski or one of my personal favourites in the division, Zabit Magomedsharipov. He could also resume fighting at lightweight, a fight against Justin Gaethje would excite me, imagine Holloway Vs. Barboza? Personally I think Holloway should head back down as despite struggling with a weight cut, he can be one of the biggest in the weight class and continue to tear through the division.
