UFC 8 Review
This weekend, we’re doing a triple UFC PPV headliner! Today we’re reviewing UFC 8, tomorrow will be UFC 9 and on Sunday: UFC 10. UFC 8 was nicknamed ‘David Vs. Goliath’ which was because of the size differences throughout the card.
Gary Goodridge Vs. Paul Herrera (Quarter Finals)
Herrera goes for a takedown but Goodridge viciously elbows Herrera’s head da
rapidly and finishes the fight in a matter of seconds.

Jerry Bohlander Vs. Scott Ferrozzo (Quarter Finals)
Bohlander hits Ferrozzo witha leg kick, Ferrozzo throws Bohlander down, he is a wrestling machine. Ferrozzo slaps on a guillotine but Ferrozzo keeps trying to move up. Bohlander hits him with a guillotine but Ferrozzo holds him against the cage and Bohlander isn’t even touching the ground at this point. Bohlander’s mouth guard has fell out but they’re continuing to fight anyway. Ferrozzo just lays on top of him. Bohlander is once again looking for a guillotine. Ferrozzo just keeps him against the cage. Bohlander locks in a guillotine and that’s it!
My Thoughts: Scott Ferrozzo is a really good wrestler but just came up short tonight.

Paul Varelans Vs. Joe Moreira (Quarter Finals)
Varelans starts to apply the pressure and is standing in the southpaw position. They kind of feel each other out for the first minute. Varelans tries to slap Moreira. Not much to comment on. Varelans is wearing his singlet, not much to say here. The cage is looking good today. Varelans hits him with a right. Moreira goes for a takedown but can’t get it, Varelans is so much bigger than Moreira - height is a funny thing. Varelans hits him with a leg kick. Moreira goes for a takedown but can’t get it. Don Frye Vs. Thomas Ramirez (Quarter Finals)
Don Frye starts with a few jabs and just rushes Ramirez with punches and knocks him out in under 10 seconds.
My Thoughts: He made this look easy! He’s through to the semi finals.

Gary Goodridge Vs. Jerry Bohlander (Semi Finals)
Bohlander goes for a takedown but can’t get it. Goodridge takes him down and chills in side control. He chills in side control for a little while. Bohlander gets on top and throws a barrage of strikes. Goodridge lays his knee on the head of Bohlander. He throws punches and finishes Bohlander on the ground.
My Thoughts: Goodridge with an impressive win here.

Don Frye Vs. Sam Adkins (Semi Finals)
Adkins is replacing Paul Varelans who got injured - weird because he didn’t even do anything. Frye assaults Adkins with large shots. The fight is stopped.
My Thoughts: Frye is off to the finals to fight Gary Goodridge.

Don Frye Vs. Gary Goodridge (Finals)
The boys grapple and Goodridge wrestles for a takedown and just throws Frye down, that must’ve stung. Frye gets up and throws a jab. Frye holds Goodridge against the cage, and he throws a flurry of punches. Goodridge goes for a rear naked but Frye is having none of it and just flattens him with position - Goodridge gives up.
My Thoughts: Don Frye has won the UFC 8 tournament.

Ken Shamrock (C) Vs. Kimo Leopoldo (UFC Superfight Championship)
They grapple and Shamrock takes the top position. Shamrock maintains side control. Shamrock keeps Leopoldo on the floor grounded. Shamrock keeps continuing to out-wrestle him. Leopoldo takes control of the fight now. Leopoldo tries to get up but somehow Shamrock gains control and locks in a kneebar, Leopoldo has no choice but to tap out.
My Thoughts: Ken Shamrock continues to be a force not to be reckoned with.
Overall Thoughts: This was a great PPV with a great tournament and a great main event.
