UFC 246 Predictions
UFC has its first event of 2020 and it’s a non-title card but that’s because Conor McGregor is headlining the card against Cowboy Cerrone in a welterweight contest. The rest of the card however doesn’t look too good on paper but there’s some good fighters on the PPV yet I don’t think it’s worth buying but it will most likely do the best buys of the year. Let’s get into predictions!
Carlos Diego Ferreira Vs. Anthony Pettis
Anthony Pettis (22-9) returns to lightweight to fight (16-2) Diego Ferriera. This should actually be a great fight! We did see a hole in Ferriera’s fighting last time he fought which was UFC 242 as he got ‘dropped’ in the first round as he got hit and he touched the canvas with his hand but immediately recovered. From there, Ferriera dominated the fight and got the win convincingly. Pettis - as we’ve seen before has power but if I’m being honest, I think he should’ve stayed at welterweight as he had more power at 170 but he’s back down at 155. I think Pettis wins this but I see it going all 3 rounds where Pettis wins a clean decision.
Prediction: Anthony Pettis (Decision)

Brian Kelleher Vs. Ode Osbourne
This bantamweight fight is a very exciting one. Brian Kelleher (19-10) hasn’t won a fight since last February and he’s taking on (8-2), 28 year old, Ode Osbourne who I believe will win the fight by a first round submission. Realistically, I think he can win by submission in any round but I think he gets it done in the first round.
Prediction: Ode Osbourne (1; Sub)

Aleksei Oleinik Vs. Maurice Greene
(57-13-1) Aleksei Oleinik is making his main card PPV debut and it’s against a fighter from the 28th season of The Ultimate Fighter, (8-3) Maurice Greene. Oleinik has 45 wins by submission and that’s what I think will play into his advantage as I think he’ll get the win with a second round submission.
Prediction: Aleksei Oleinik (2; Sub)

Holly Holm Vs. Raquel Pennington
Back in 2015, Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington fought for the first time where Holm (12-5) got a split decision over Raquel Pennington (10-7). However, I think this time round, Holm will get a unanimous victory over Pennington if not, a third round stoppage by Holm which will most likely get her another title shot.
Prediction: Holly Holm (Decision)

Conor McGregor Vs. Cowboy Cerrone
This is a fascinating bout. This welterweight bout sees McGregor (21-4) taking on Cerrone (36-13) and I think it’ll be very interesting to see how McGregor deals with Cerrone. McGregor is known for his fast pace and early stoppages with fantastic boxing while Cerrone heats up as time goes on and his fantastic kicking ability with a great ground game. My prediction for the fight was going to be McGregor in the first round however I have changed it for whatever reason to McGregor in the second round.
Prediction: Conor McGregor (2; TKO)
