UFC 242 Predictions

Tonight, Khabib Nurmagomedov makes his second defence of his lightweight championship against interim champion, Dustin Poirier. Many people have predicted the undefeated Khabib to retain but many have predicted that Poirier shocks the world but who do I predict? Let’s find out.

Mairbek Taisumov Vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira

I can’t say for certain but I’d imagine the winner of this gets into the top 15. This is a tough fight to predict as who knows who’s going to win this fight but I’m going to o with Taisumov by TKO and it’s going to happen in the first round.

Prediction: Mairbek Taisumov (Round 1; TKO)

Curtis Blaydes Vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov

I’m a big fan of Curtis Blaydes, he’s a fantastic heavyweight and definitely has potential with his ruthless aggression and size but has been finished twice both times by Francis Ngannou. Blaydes takes on Abdurakhimov - a man who is now 38 but ranked 9th in the UFC. I think we’ll see Blaydes dominated Abdurakhimov and Blaydes winning by total domination.

Prediction: Curtis Blaydes (Round 2; TKO)

Islam Makhachev Vs. Davi Ramos

I really think this is going to be a great fight, possibly even fight of the night. I’m going to predict that Makhachev wins this one by decision, he’s 27 and still only to get better.

Prediction: Islam Makhachev (Decision)

Edson Barboza Vs. Paul Felder

It’s been over 4 years since the first fight and both men has had very different paths since their first encounter. Barboza lost earlier this year to Justin Gaethje while Felder defeated James Vick back in February. I do believe Barboza will win the rematch also and just like the first time, by decision.

Prediction: Edson Barboza (Decision)

Khabib Nurmagomedov (C) Vs. Dustin Poirier (UFC Lightweight Championship)

This should be a fantastic fight and I just can’t see Dustin Poirier winning this, he could but I don’t think he will. I do believe Khabib will wrestle Poirier for 5 rounds and just dominate him for the win like we have so many times and hopefully the winner of this can fight Tony Ferguson because he truly does deserve a title shot.
