UFC 226 Review
So it’s time for the UFC 226 Review, who won between Cormier and Miocic, Ngannou and Lewis and the bigger question: Josh and Cameron. Let’s get into the review.
Gökan Saki Vs. Khalil Rountree Jr (LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT)
Round 1: Not much to note in the opening minute or so. Rountree catches Saki with a big left hand and knocks Saki right out! Crazy. Fantastic knockout!
Winner: Khalil Rountree Jr (Round 1; TKO)
Score: Josh: 1 I Cameron: 1

Michael Chiesa Vs. Anthony Pettis (LIGHTWEIGHT)
Round 1: They go down to the ground and Chiesa is on top. They scramble for position for a while. Decent first round. I think Pettis scores a knockdown just as the round ends.
My Thoughts: Good opening round for high men.
Round Winner: Anthony Pettis
Round 2: The round doesn’t last long as Pettis makes Chiesa tap out. He tapped out to a triangle hold.
Winner: Anthony Pettis (Round 2; Submission)
Score: Cameron: 2 I Josh: 1

Paul Felder Vs. Mike Perry (WELTERWEIGHT)
Round 1: Mike Perry and Paul Felder is more of a striking fight rather than the grappling. There is enough grapples to keep grapplers entertained and enough striking to keep the strikers happy.
My Thoughts: Close round and also a good one.
Round Winner: Paul Felder
Round 2: Felder gets a headkick but doesn’t look like it done too much damage. Mike Perry gets a big slam in, he lifted him higher than the octagon! Felder cuts Perry open and there’s blood everywhere! Was it a punch or was it a stabbing! It certainly wasn’t a headbutt as Felder’s coaches tell the referee like twenty times.
My Thoughts: Well, there’s a bit of blood now. Quite a lot. Like there could be buckets of this amount!
Round Winner: Paul Felder
Round 3: Paul Felder thinks his arm is broken. That’s not going to benefit him - this might be the downfall. I’m glad the referee has stayed out of the way. I’m really surprised that these two were allowed a round 3. I’ll happily take a rematch down the line. Hell, I’ll go for a Best Of 5!
My Thoughts: What. A. Fight.
Round Winner: Mike Perry
Winner:Mike Perry (Split Decision)

Francis Ngannou Vs. Derick Lewis (HEAVYWEIGHT)
Round 1: Lewis goes for a big headkick but misses. Very slower round than I expected.
My Thoughts: Slow round??
Round Winner: Derrick Lewis
Round 2: Not that entertaining, Miocic must be scarred Ngannou.
My Thoughts: Boring fight.
Round Winner: Derrick Lewis
Round 3: Remember when I said this fight was going to be brilliant and how explosive it was going to be and how nobody was walking out of round 1? Well.
My Thoughts: Didn’t enjoy this at all. Fantastic show up until this point. Ngannou landed like 10 strikes? I’d gladly watch Kimbo Slice and Dadda 5000 again after this monstrosity.
Round Winner: Derrick Lewis
Winner: Derrick Lewis (Unanimous Decision)
Score: Cameron: 3 I Josh: 2

Stipe Miocic (C) Vs. Daniel Cormier (UFC Heavyweight Championship)
Round 1: Stipe looks for punches but Cormier looks for a clinch. They go down but Stipe is on top. They get back up and Stipe has Cormier pinned against the wall. Miocic gets a good punch in and a knee to the stomach. Miocic gets a good combination, Cormier gets a good comeback and stings Miocic. It looks like Cormier accidentally pokes Miocic in the eye - taking moves from Jones? CORMIER CATCHES MIOCIC WITH A PUNCH AND FINISHES THE JOB. I PREDICTED CORMIER AND I STILL CANT BELIEVE IT.
Daniel Cormier calls out Brock Lesnar who comes into the octagon and pushes Cormier into the welterweight division! They have an argument which sets up a fight down the road - possibly November. What a night of action minus Ngannou/Lewis. Cormier is the Heavyweight Champion - the world is good again.
Winner: Daniel Cormier (Round 1; TKO)
Score: Josh: 3 I Cameron: 3
(Josh retains due to champions advantage)
