This one's definitely a treat for you guys! This was the first time I got to watch this Summerslam in its entirety and I must say this was definitely a Summerslam to remember. So much nostalgia, so much moments, so many memories! Not to mention, this was held in Wembley Stadium in the UK and 80,000 fans packed this place, setting the 2nd all time attendance record for a PPV behind Wrestlemania III. Let's take a look at what went down on this historic show!
Picture

Money Inc. Vs. Legion of Doom

Good opening match here. Fans totally despised Money Inc, but they totally loved LOD. Both teams went back and forth with each other as Money Inc had Hawk put down easily with Sleeper Holds. Hawk staggered for a little until he made the hot tag to Animal and that's where things picked up! They almost nailed Ted DiBiase with the Doomsday Device, but Jimmy Hart distracted the referee, causing I.R.S to take out Animal. Animal came back with a Powerslam to DiBiase to pick up the win for his team! Fans went nuts and this was a good way to start off the PPV.

Backstage, Mean Gene Okerlund interviews Ric Flair as Flair talks about how he should've been the one to face Randy Savage for the WWF Championship instead of Ultimate Warrior. There's not much more to say about this other than it was legendary. R.I.P Mean Gene.

Virgil was interviewed next and even though it was short, I liked it. He showed intensity as he was ready to square off against Nailz.

Virgil Vs. Nailz

Quick match here as Virgil came in blazing at Nailz. Nailz was a big guy here so not much of Virgil's moves could put him down. Nailz didn't much either, but once he got his hands on Virgil he took control. Nailz put Virgil in a Sleeper Hold and this was enough to choke him out. Nailz wins by submission, and attacks Virgil with a nightstick afterwards.

Mean Gene interviews Sensational Sherri this time and man, she was absolutely gorgeous! The outfit she had on shows how much sex appeal she really had, especially for this time back then. She talks about the upcoming match between Shawn Michaels and Rick Martel as she states both of them agreed not to hit each other in the face. Shawn hilariously yells at her off screen, "Sherri Let's go!"

Shawn Michaels Vs. Rick Martel

This match was fine but the main focus was Sherri, which I wasn't complaining. The two guys locked up well and both performed some athletic moves. Shawn was thrown outside of the ring as Sherri went to go check on him, Rick took this opportunity to go flirt with her. He gives her a hug and she actually liked it! Match continues for a bit until things get heated as both men wanted to punch each other in the face so bad. Sherri shouts at them to not do so but as they come close to, Sherri "faints" as an attempt to stop the two from killing one another. Both guys try to help her but of course they didn't get along so they start brawling up the aisle way as the referee's counting to 10, resulting in this match ending in a no contest. Both guys try to carry Sherri to the back as they both kept attacking each other. Finally, Shawn is carrying Sherri as Rick comes from the back with a bucket of water, teasing to splash Shawn as the crowd was amped up for it. He instead splashes Sherri as she wakes up from her fake faint while Shawn chases him to the back. Sherri was embarrassed then she runs to the back.

The Natural Disasters (C) Vs. The Beverly Brothers (WWF Tag Team Championships)

Fine tag match as the Beverly Brothers had a big challenge ahead of team. Earthquake and Typhoon are two very big men, so Bloom and Blake mainly focused on doing lighter moves since they couldn't lift their opponents. They had control over Typhoon throughout the match until he made the tag to Earthquake. Earthquake went to town on them as he splashed then both, laying them out. Earthquake takes out Blake while nailing Bloom with the Sit Out Splash to pick up the win for his team, retaining the Tag titles!

Repo Man Vs. Crush

This match wasn't that good honestly. Repo Man had little offense but mostly got destroyed by Crush. Crush almost won with a Powerslam but decided to perform his head squeeze finisher for the win. I will admit, I love both guys' theme songs.

Randy Savage (C) Vs. The Ultimate Warrior (WWF Championship)

This match was very intense, but not for the action, for the drama itself. The story of this match was that Mr.Perfect, who's aligned with Ric Flair at the time, teased that he was either in Warrior's corner or Savage's corner. Fans speculated who he was referring to, and this had eyeballs on the match in a big way. The match itself was good. Not as good as their match at Wrestlemania VII the year before, but it was still a good match. Flair and Perfect arrived during the match and that made things more interesting. Throughout the match, Perfect would distract Savage while Flair would attack Warrior. Perfect would then distract Warrior while Flair attacks Savage, causing so much confusion. Savage was gonna go for his Diving Elbow Drop but at the last minute decided to jump onto Flair, but Flair had a chair in his hands and hits Savage in mid air. Savage hurt his left knee coming down to the floor as the referee is counting him out. I must say the referee was counting pretty damn fast too. Savage couldn't make it in time so he was counted out, resulting in Warrior winning but since it was by countout, Savage remained champion. Flair and Perfect continue to attack Savage outside the ring then Flair grabs the chair again. Warrior sees this and slowly walks towards Flair then as Flair was gonna hit Savage with the chair, Warrior grabs it and chases the two men away. Warrior walks back to the ring and grabs the WWF title. Realizing he didn't win the belt, he hands Savage the title and the two of them embraced!

The Undertaker Vs. Kamala

I'm a huge Undertaker fan but I must say, this wasn't any good. Taker mostly did chops and chokeholds on Kamala, while Kamala did chops himself. Taker nailed a Chokeslam on Kamala which did looked impressive. He then get Kamala on his shoulder as he was about to perform the Tombstone Piledriver, Kimchee hits him and this causes a DQ finish. Kamala then starts beating down Taker, hitting him with a couple of Big Splashes. Taker is laid out and as Kamala was about to leave, Taker sits up! Kamala is freaked out at this point and starts running away as Zombie Taker is slowly chasing him. Early 90s version of Undertaker is definitely one of my favorites of the character as he looked very evil here.

Next we have a bagpipe performance from the Balmoral Highlanders as they're joined by the legendary "Rowdy" Roddy Piper! Piper and the Highlanders performed well together and he looked so happy doing so. Fans gave them a standing ovation and it was a cool sight to see. R.I.P Hot Rod.

Bret Hart (C) Vs. The British Bulldog (WWF Intercontinental Championship)

Great main event! The wrestling was good. The ring psychology was good. The story was good. We got two brother in laws battling for a very prestigious championship. Bret was recieving noticable boos throughout the match which was expected since they're in Bulldog's home country. Bulldog I must say didn't look too good in this match but somehow got through it. He almost had the match won a couple of times but Bret kept fighting back. Bret had the Sharpshooter locked in at one point but Bulldog managed to grab the ropes. Bret attempted a Sunset Flip but Bulldog countered it into a pinfall for the win, capturing the IC title! Fans exploded once the referee hit the 3 count as their beloved Englishman won the championship. Bulldog offered a handshake to Bret but Bret refused at first. He finally comes to his senses and accepts the handshake then they hugged. They're then joined by Diana Smith, Bulldog's wife/Bret's sister, and they all embraced, closing out the show!

Overall Thoughts: The show overall was very good. Some matches were bad, some were good, and the main event was great! Some much nostalgia here and the fans helped made this show a very memorable one.

Show Rating: 8.2/10
