WWE Smackdown Live Review- 20 August 2019
The King of the Ring tournament continues on the blue brand! This show kicked off the Smackdown side of the First Round matches but that's not all that was focused about. Last week, Daniel Bryan promised Roman Reigns that we will indeed find out who's been trying to take him out lately. Want to know who the attacker turned out to be? Stick around with this review and you'll find out!
Show opens with a promo by Randy Orton as he talks about the beatdown he delivered to New Day the previous night on RAW, along with The Revival. He repeatedly calls Kofi Kingston stupid, and that was actually a bit funny in the way he said it. The New Day's music hits and Orton was staring at the stage awaiting for Kofi to show up and Kofi did just that but this time he was behind Orton. Orton turns around then Kofi delivers the Trouble in Paradise! The Revival runs out to ambush Kofi but he had a steel chair in hand and takes them out with the weapon, standing tall at the end!

Andrade Vs. Apollo Crews (King Of The Ring; Round 1)
Good match here between these guys as they battle it out to advance to the Quarterfinals. Not too much to cover here other than it being a good match and Andrade getting the upper hand for most of it. Andrade nails the Hammerlock DDT on Apollo and picks up the win, advancing to the Quarterfinals!
A Moment of Bliss segment was next with guest Charlotte Flair. Charlotte talks about her victory over Trish Stratus at Summerslam and how she's the face of the Smackdown Women's division. She then states that Bayley made the Smackdown Women's Championship an afterthought, which prompted for Bayley to interrupt her. Bayley states that she is a fighting champion and has the fans behind her 100%. Charlotte then simply says that she can't wait to take the title from her at Clash of Champions so just like that, Charlotte will face Bayley for the SD Women's Championship at the PPV. Bayley accepted that so called challenge and before leaving, she VICIOUSLY shoves Charlotte out of her chair, leaving her flabbergasted!

Daniel Bryan Vs. Buddy Murphy
Another damn good performance involving Buddy Murphy! Once this match was announced, I knew we were in for a treat. Bryan repeatedly kept calling Murphy a liar throughout the match but Murphy fought through it and gave Bryan a good fight. Bryan almost had Murphy beat with the Labelle Lock but he reached the ropes just in time. Murphy bounced back with a big dive over the top rope onto Bryan at ringside, which gave him the upper hand. Match continues for a bit til Murphy nailed the Murphy's Law on Bryan and picks up a big win! Murphy cleanly defeats Daniel Bryan and I must say, we're FINALLY starting to see what this man can really do and I'm happy about it.
Backstage as he was about to be interviewed, Buddy Murphy was instantly laid out by Rowan while Bryan shouted that he didn't deserve that win.

The Revival Vs. Heavy Machinery
Good tag match here. The Revival had the upper hand for most of the match then once Otis came in, that's where the momentum changed hands. Otis hits the Caterpillar Elbow Drop on Dash Wilder then as he tags in Tucker to hit the Compactor, Scott Dawson comes in to distract them. This causes Wilder to roll up Tucker for the win for his team!
MizTV segment was up next with guest Sami Zayn. Sami straight up tells Miz that he doesn't care about him nor the show, he just wanted to get something off his chest. Sami states that he's be affiliated with someone who's been underutilized as of late, and that man turned out to be Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura! Miz tried talking to Nakamura but Sami was his spokesman. Nakamura then attacks Miz from behind then finishes him off with the Kinshasa. After this segment, I'm guessing we'll see Nakamura vs Miz for the IC title at Clash of Champions?

Kevin Owens Vs. Elias (King Of The Ring; Round 1)
Decent match here as the two men both put in efforts to advance to the Quarterfinals. In the middle of the match, Shane McMahon arrives as he was observing the match at ringside. Match continues for a bit til they end up by the announce table and that's when Shane stops KO to reveal himself as a referee! KO becomes furious but didn't want to distract himself from winning the match. Suddenly, Elias rolls up KO and Shane fast counts the pin, allowing Elias to advance to the Quarterfinals!
Lastly, we finally get to find out who supposedly has been trying to take out Roman Reigns as of late. Roman enters a room where Daniel Bryan and Rowan has the "culprit" hostage. This was the moment we've been waiting for throughout the show, then Daniel finally revealed who the man was. This guy was almost a copycat of Rowan, sporting a long red beard just like Rowan. Rowan himself even looked confused but went along with it. Roman Reigns looked confused as well and that's where the show ended. Another cliffhanger for sure because that guy definitely is NOT the attacker.
Show Rating: 7.7/10
