Predicting Every UFC PPV Main Event In 2019
It’s March. UFC has had two PPV events - one being headlined by Anderson Silva & the other being headlined by Jon Jones. Literally have nothing to post this weekend so this is my last resort: predicting the main events of the remaining PPV’s this year - let’s get going.
UFC 237: Namajunas Vs. Andrade
This fight has already been confirmed but it’s not official if this will serve as the main event but if it doesn’t, then who could headline? I don’t know but this card is stacked, it has Aldo and Silva which is strong enough. I think this could do around the 250-300K PPV buys and this can definitely headline the card.
UFC 238: Usman Vs. Covington
UFC 238 already has a title fight but how strong is Valentina Shevchenko Vs. Jessica Eye? I mean the result is pretty predictable and they’re not big names to sell PPV’s so that’s why I think the main event will be a welterweight title fight between newly crowned champion, Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. Now, are they “big” names? No, but I think this will definitely boost the sales as people want to see Covington get his ass kicked but this fight could go either way and people will pay to see how this one goes.
UFC 239: Cormier Vs. Lesnar
This looks like it’s going to happen and I cannot wait. I’ve been saying for a while that it will happen in the summer and since the venue is Las Vegas - the chances are even more likely. Recently, Dana White posted a few happy emojis which could be a hint that this fight is done and the UFC even responded with a GIF of WWE wrestler, Sami Zayn which might seem like nothing but I think it’s another indicator. Also, to make this card EVEN stronger, I’d have Amanda Nunes defend her women’s bantamweight title against Holly Holm. It’s only a matter of time until this fight takes place and why not have it here?
UFC 240: Jones Vs. Santos
I’m going to take a punt here and say that Jones will fight at 240 - he could fight at 237 but let’s give him more time off. Jones Vs. Santos appears to be the next fight for the light heavyweight championship and I guess it’s okay. I feel like Jones will win this but this should be a good fight. I’d have Brian Ortega fight Zabit Magomedsharipov for the vacant featherweight title on this card as well as I believe Holloway will defeat Poirier at 236 and will vacant the belt. These two will have a fantastic fight and could literally go either way - I’d expect the buy rate on this card to be pretty high.
UFC 241: Dillashaw Vs. Moraes
I really don’t want to see Dillashaw and Cejudo fight again - I just can’t be bothered. Dillashaw and Moraes though? Absolutely- it just makes perfect sense. Moraes has been doing great recently and deserves his title shot and I believe he will get the chance sometime this year. I’m really fascinated by this match-up, how will their styles gel? Who would win? I don’t know but I want to find out.
UFC 242: Whittaker Vs. Adesanya
We’re in October now and I see this being a middleweight clash. It allows Whittaker to recover and train and after Adesanya beats Gastelum (which I think will happen) he can try and unify the middleweight division and become the undisputed champion. This would be a fantastic fight and a fight which the MMA community would love.
UFC 243: Jones Vs. Walker
It’s Madison Square Garden time and I can see three title fights - what a laugh. Henry Cejudo defending against Ray Borg, Kamaru Usman fighting Stephen Thompson who I think will beat Anthony Pettis and the main event being Jon Jones fighting rising prospect who and think will rise through the ranks throughout the year. This would be a fantastic card and I see something like this taking place.
UFC 244: Nunes Vs. De Randamie
The Iron Lady fighting the Lioness is just a fight which needs to happen. The first featherweight champion fighting a woman who became featherweight champion and I don’t know who’s fighting for that belt this year. Megan Anderson could possibly fight for it against somebody in the co main event of a PPV. This would be a great fight and this is a great fight to make.
UFC 245: Khabib Vs. Ferguson
The last PPV of the year is always big so let’s make it big. Khabib could fight 3 men: Ferguson, Holloway (who I think will be interim champion) or McGregor. If I’m being honest, I think it’ll be McGregor but imagine Khabib Vs. Ferguson? That would be brilliant! It’s time it happens.
