One To Look Out For: Randy Costa
Bantamweight prospect, Randy Costa returns this Saturday after an impressive stoppage victory over Boston Salmon last October. His opponent this time is Journey Newson - a well rounded 31 year old opponent. I predict Costa gets the win here and I also predict that he’s someone you should keep an eye out for in the UFC.
The Zohan is only 26 yet he’s shown a great deal of potential and this potential will only grow and grow until Costa maximises that potential. The Massachusetts bred fighter has had 5 victories in the cage with all 5 of them resulting in a TKO win - a 100% finishing rate. I’ve often said that the bantamweight division is the most stacked in the UFC and I stand by that, so Costa has a lot to prove inside the octagon.
If Costa wins on Saturday, I’d like to see him fight a couple more unranked opponents before breaking into the top fifteen. I think fights with O’Malley, Vera, Yadong, Sandhagen or even Cruz would all be fascinating fights and I honestly believe it’s only a matter of time before we see Costa fighting one of these names.
