Oleksandr Usyk Vs. Tony Bellew (The Boxing Analysis)
Last Saturday night in Manchester, Oleksandr Usyk defended his unified cruiserweight championships against Tony Bellew in Bellew’s last fight. Before the fight, we done a Boxing Analysis of previous fights these two had but it’s time to do a Boxing Analysis of the fight these two had together.
Round 1: Here we go. Usyk starts with body shots, Bellew using that left jab, course he’s an orthodox boxer, Usyk is capable to both. Usyk is cornering Bellew off but Bellew avoids this and starts pushing Usyk. Not much punches being thrown here. Bellew is winning this round, Usyk is still adapting. He’s starting to find his rhythm but it is still Tony Bellew’s round. Bellew starting to use good body shots now.
My Thoughts: This was a slow first round, Bellew getting comfortable with his left jab. Close round though.
Round Winner: Tony Bellew (10-9)
Round 2: Usyk hitting body shots more and more. Usyk using that jab now, he is now fighting at southpaw, he is an elite level boxer. Bellew taking Usyk to come on. Bellew hits a good right punch and ducks a left. Usyk doing good, embracing the England crowd.
My Thoughts: This was a really close round, going to give it to Tony Bellew though.
Round Winner: Tony Bellew (10-9)
Round 3: Usyk chasing Bellew now, hits with a good right. He’s still fighting at southpaw. Usyk hits Bellew with a good body punch. Bellew does a good right jab. Usyk is hitting combinations now, can Bellew keep up with Usyk’s pace? Bellew just like Murat Gassiev is hitting body shots to Usyk, trying to slow the monster down but I really don’t think that’s a possibility.
My Thoughts: This was an enjoyable round.
Round Winner: Oleksandr Usyk (10-9)
Score: Tony Bellew (29-28)
Round 4: Usyk is now swinging for Bellew. Bellew landing some good shots still, I feel like Bellew’s head movement is incredibly underrated. Bellew is still getting good shots in. Tony Bellew is like the cruiserweight version of Tyson Fury, he’s so slick.
My Thoughts: I also enjoyed this round. Bellew is doing well, he’s coping.
Round Winner: Tony Bellew (10-9)
Round 5: Usyk corners Bellew but somehow Bellew avoids this and they go back to the centre of the ring. Oleksandr Usyk hits a good left hook. This has been a close round. Bellew hits good 1, 2s.
My Thoughts: This was an extremely close round.

Round 6: Bellew is starting to hit body combinations. Bellew hits body jabs now. Bellew goes for a big right but can’t connect. They exchange good shots,
My Thoughts: Another close round.

Score: Tony Bellew (58-56)
Round 7: Usyk starts with great combinations. He’s picking up the pace now, will Bellew keep up? It appears that he can and goes for a big left, right. Usyk is showing the monster towards the end of the round. As Bellew sits down, he nods his head, he knows it’s only a matter of time.
My Thoughts: Usyk is closing in.
Round Winner: Oleksandr Usyk (10-9)”
Round 8: Bellew does good shots to begin the 8th round. Usyk showing off his speed and catches Bellew. Bellew is dazed. They clinch. Bellew hits a right hook and he’s starting to make a comeback now. Usyk hits him with a solid left hook. A double left hook now and Bellew is on thin ice. Usyk goes to work and Bellew is down. He doesn’t make the count and the fight is over.
My Thoughts: Even if Bellew did survive this and didn’t get knocked out, I reckon Usyk would’ve won every round from this point. This was a huge gamble for Usyk and it paid off.
