How WWE Could’ve Booked A Cruiserweight Money In The Bank
My last hypothetical Money in the Bank match features wrestlers that would be great in any ladder match, the Cruiserweights! I love seeing the wrestlers that are flying around in a Money in the Bank match, and these guys would be doing that for the most part. 205 Live is filled with talent, so who makes the cut? Well let's see.
Akira Tozawa
Tozawa is a weird cruiserweight. He is good wrestler, and has a lot of nice moves, but his high flying is very minimal. Tozawa has one thing going for him and that is that he is a former Cruiserweight Champion. While it was only for six day, it was still a reign. He knows how to get there, but it was also something very valuable. Tozawa got a taste of that title, and he wants more. In a ladder match, Tozawa would be an interesting competitor. He isn’t someone that would be flying around and doing crazy things, but he would be a good competitor for the match.
Drew Gulak
Speaking about wrestlers that don’t scream ladder match, let’s look at Drew Gulak. He is a submission wrestler, and ladders are his enemy. But this is something that it seems that Gulak needs. He has been someone that has been so close to the title so many times, but everytime he comes up just short. This would be the perfect way for him to get over that hurdle and finally win that title. I also think it would be very cool to see the ultra serious Gulak carrying around a briefcase, like a real business man.
Humberto Carrillo
It seems that they are grooming Humberto Carrillo to be the future of the show, and I am all there for it. Carrillo is someone that was a big name in Mexico, specifically The Crash, and is very good in the ring. He has the highflying ability that the show wants and has the chance to be a huge name for WWE. Carrillo is someone that can be a major part of WWE’s future. He also is someone that has a lot of wrestling ahead of him as he is only 26 years old. It only seems like a matter of time until Carrillo wins the title, and a match like this would show the world just how good he is. Carrillo is someone who is not afraid to take to the skies and make it look effortless. He would thrive in a Money in the Bank match.
Mike Kanellis
This is a guy that you can build a division around. Mike Kanellis looks like he is being built to be the wrestler to take the title off of Tony Nese, but a spot in a Money in the Bank Match would be very interesting. He is a wrestler that is more ground based, but I think that a match like this would be very helpful for him. He is someone that a lot of fans know and has a lot of experience, but what’s more important is that he plays a key role in the match, the sneaky heel. You have all the guys that are going to do all the flashy moves, and then there is the heel that comes in and steals the win. I think Kanellis is the perfect person to fill that role.
Oney Lorcan
Talk about someone that really came out of nowhere. I had never heard of Oney Lorcan before he and Danny Burch challenged for the NXT Tag Team Titles. Ever since, I have been a huge fan of his. I think that there is a lot of potential in Lorcan, and it is time for him to show the world that potential. I think that Lorcan could be a key part in the build up of 205 Live, since it has been a whole hell of a lot better since the departure of Enzo Amore and Triple H taking control of the show, and Lorcan has been an enjoyable one of the additions to the roster this year. In this match you could see Lorcan go crazy in the match. All his hard hits, all those crazy ladder spots he would be down to do, and he wouldn’t look out of place with the talent in there. I think that in this match, Lorcan would be a fantastic winner as it can be used to help him as he starts to win a lot more matches and become a bigger name.
The Brian Kendrick
The man is a former WWE Champion! (remember that Championship Scramble at Unforgiven 2008?) How could he not be in the match. Brian Kendrick is someone that has always been good in the ring, and has been someone that has always been seen as someone that just been a solid wrestler. He has a weird character, but his in ring work makes up for that. It is hard to believe that Kendrick has very little ladder match action. I would love to see Kendrick in a cruiserweight Money in the Bank, because of his experience and all he has done for the company. It would be a nice memento for Kendrick. He is a lot like Christian, in the fact that he is consistently good, he just can’t win the big one. A Money in the Bank win would be a very nice thing to see.
Jack Gallagher
This is a guy that just can’t seem to keep his head above water on 205 Live. He will win a handful of matches, then lose some. Repeat the cycle a few more times, and you have Jack Gallagher. He is a good ground based wrestler with a pinch of high flying, but he seems to be missing something. It’s tough to pinpoint exactly what that thing is though. He could just need someone to believe in him, or a big match like this one.I think Gallagher in this match is a lot like Drew Gulak, I want to see what submissions they can do with the ladders.
Ligero
I want to see Ligero get a lot more opportunities, and it seems that he is getting it. He got the match with the Cruiserweight Championship at 205 Live in England, and has been getting consistent matches on NXT UK. I think that he is one of the vest wrestlers from England and has been at this for quite a long time. Ligero in a ladder match would be a fun idea. He is someone who is willing to do anything to win a match. I think when the time is right, Ligero will be a very welcomed addition to the 205 Live roster, although I would love to see him team back up with Travis Banks, Joe Coffey, and if possible Joe Hendry and BT Gunn as the Prestige at some point, possibly in NXT UK?
As for a winner, it would have to be Drew Gulak. I can see a scenario where Kendrick and Carrillo are on top of a ladder, fighting for the briefcase. Kendrick pushes Carrillo off and reaches up for the briefcase to win the match. And then Gulak comes in and pushes him off the ladder and wins the briefcase himself. Would be a perfect ending to what would be a great match.
