Fights You Need To See Before: UFC 241

Picture
UFC 241 is next weekend and it is stacked. From Diaz/Pettis to Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic, the card looks great! Before you watch the PPV, there’s fights you need to watch before the event and that’s what I’ll be looking at today.
Picture

Ian Heinisch (13-1)

Ian Heinisch is a hidden name in the middleweight division. He sits 10 in the rankings and is actually above Uriah Hall and Anderson Silva - two big names that a lot of MMA fans know, specifically Silva.

Fight You Should Check Out: Ian Heinisch Vs. Antonio Carlos Junior

This was Heinisch’s last fight and it was back in May only three months ago. This fight co headlined the Rafael Dos Anjos and Kevin Lee card.
Picture

Derek Brunson (19-7)

Derek Brunson is an interesting fighter, he is 35 years old and is a decent fighter. You take a look through his losses and they’re good names with the exception of Kendall Grove; Jacare Souzac Yoel Romero, Robert Whittaker, Anderson Silva, Souza (again) and Israel Adesanya.

Fight You Should Check Out: Derek Brunson Vs. Lyoto Machida

This fight happened back in 2017 and it was a quick one as Brunson knocked Machida out in the first round. Machida is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion so it was a big win for Brunson and it was also Machida’s last loss.
Picture

Sodiq Yusuff (9-1)

Featherweight Sodiq Yusuff isn’t ranked and neither is his opponent but he is a good fighter and a young fighter at the age of 26.

Fight You Should Check Out: Sodiq Yusuff Vs. Greg Kleynjans

This was Yusuff’s 5th TKO victory and it was a first round stoppage for the American and this fight shows you what Yusuff is capable of.
Picture

Gabriel Benitez (21-6)

I’m a big fan of Gabriel Benitez, I remember seeing him on The Ultimate Fighter and he’s a great fighter. Are there guys that can beat him? Absolutely! Of course! But he’s a great fighter to watch!

Fight You Should Check Out: Gabriel Benitez Vs. Humberto Bandenay

39 seconds was the length of the fight and it was insane. That fight was on the prelims for an Usman/Maia fight night and it wasn’t even headlining the prelims, it was the first fight on so this is a proper jump for the Mexican.
Picture

Paulo Costa (12-0)

12 wins, 12 finishes. Paulo Costa is storming through the middleweight division and if he goes through Yoel Romero then he may be in line for a title shot.

Fight You Should Check Out: Paulo Costa Vs. Uriah Hall

This fight was destruction - well, Uriah Hall knocked Costa down in the first but after that, it was destruction and it showed Costa as a threat.
Picture

Yoel Romero (13-3)

Fan favourite, Yoel Romero has always been fingertips away from UFC gold but has always came up short. I’m worried in case he doesn’t make weight, he’s missed weight twice in his last two fights.

Fight You Should Check Out: Yoel Romero Vs. Luke Rockhold

This was one of Yoel Romero’s greatest performances, the way he threw that left straight was perfection and Rockhold just bounced off the canvas. Yoel Romero has so much power and it shows just how good the solider of gold is.
Picture

Anthony Pettis (22-8)

Anthony Pettis has great skills at welterweight, he has so much power and it’s crazy to think that he fought at Featherweight less than three years ago.

Fight You Should Check Out: Anthony Pettis Vs. Stephen Thompson

The superman punch. Pettis is so gifted in the cage, he’s so gifted in the cage that he even uses the cage! Showtime is great and he’ll definitely give Diaz a fight!
Picture

Nate Diaz (19-11)

I’m so excited that Nate Diaz is back in the octagon, I always enjoy when he fights. He always puts on a good fight and 9 times out of 10, it’s a war. This is such a good match up and I can’t wait to see it.

Fight You Should Check Out: Nate Diaz Vs. Conor McGregor 1

Conor McGregor, The UFC’s biggest star fought Nate Diaz on 10 days notice and Diaz made him submit. It was a great fight and just a glimpse of what Diaz can do at welterweight.
Picture

Stipe Miocic (18-3)

I’m not a big fan of how Stipe Miocic got this rematch. The fact how he just sat around waiting for it doesn’t sit well with me, at least Tyron Woodley gave it his best shot at coming back after losing the title. Miocic was a pretty dominant champion though and here’s the fight I think you should check out.

Fight You Should Check Out: Stipe Miocic Vs. Junior Dos Santos 2

This showed how much power Miocic has, the fact how he just KO’s Santos in the first round is crazy. It was the right hand of Stipe that folded JDS and it just came out of nowhere.
Picture

Daniel Cormier (22-1)

Daniel Cormier is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time and if he wins this then he may be the best. The 40 year old is undefeated at heavyweight at a perfect record of 15-0 and I cannot think of many names that can beat DC.

Fight You Should Check Out: Daniel Cormier Vs. Stipe Miocic 1

This just makes the most sense, eye pokes aside, Daniel Cormier was winning this fight and topped it all off with the big right and dropped Miocic. The rematch can go either way and I can’t wait.
