Boxing Predictions: September 2018

Picture
August was a great month for boxing as we saw a massive Youtube event filled with exciting fights from start to end and Tyson Fury completely designating his opponent, Francesco Pianeta then confronting WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder confirming their high caliber fight for later in the year. Carl Frampton headlined that event against Luke Jackson which was an exciting fight which Frampton won and then basically confirmed his fight against Josh Warrington. August is now over and we’re officially in September and wow. What a month September is for boxing so let’s not waste anymore time and start predicting September.

Also I am no longer undefeated in boxing Predictions as Deji lost against Jake Paul and KSI’s fight against Logan Paul ended in a draw.

September 28th: George Groves Vs. Callum Smith

This is going to be a fantastic fight which will most likely be a war. Groves is a great fighter who has defeated names like Martin Murray and Chris Eubank Jr. Groves has suffered 3 losses in his career, 2 of which came back to back with Carl Froch. I’m really looking forward to this fight.

Callum Smith is undefeated but I reckon if he faced Eubank in the semi-finals instead of Groves fighting him, I don’t think Smith would be in the final as I think he’d struggle with Eubank but maybe that’s the fight to make next.

Prediction: George Groves (Unanimous Decision)

September 8th: Amir Khan Vs. Samuel Vargas

This Saturday, we’ll see Amir Khan’s first fight since April and to be honest, this is more of another test for Khan - kinda like what happened with Tyson Fury. This is smart, give Amir Khan a few fights before putting him in a big money fight and I’ve got no problem with that but I don’t think Samuel Vargas stands a chance.

Prediction: Amir Khan (Round 3; TKO)

September 22nd: Anthony Joshua Vs. Alexander Povetkin

Imagine the scenes if Alexander Povetkin defeats Anthony Joshua. Where would Anthony Joshua go? Would he still fight Deontay Wilder? I don’t think Povetkin wins but this will be a great fight. This is Joshua’s first fight in Wembley since defeating Wladimir Klitschko back in 2017. I pray that if Joshua wins this, we can finally get Joshua verses Wilder in April.

Prediction: Anthony Joshua (Round 10; TKO)

September 15th: Gennady Golovkin Vs. Canelo Alvarez

This has potential to be fight of the decade. If you thought their first fight was good then you just know how good this rematch will be. These two have been training like crazy these past few months and the Vegas atmosphere will add so much. But who will win?

Personally, I think Golovkin will win. He’s got speed, he’s got power, he’s got technique and he’s even got a chin made of steel. We’ve seen Canelo defeated but Golovkin is unbeaten and I don’t know how ready Canelo is for GGG.

Prediction: Gennady Golovkin (Unanimous Decision)
