Boxing Predictions: December

Picture
November was a decent month for the sport of boxing, Josh Taylor advanced to the semi-finals of the WBSS & Oleksandr Usyk defended his unified cruiserweight championships but now we look forward to December - the month of Christmas and there’s a lot of good fights in December which makes it Christmas!

December 8th: Vasyl Lomachenko Vs. José Pedraza

Many see Lomachenko as the number one pound for pound boxer there is and it’s hard to disagree, he’s got power, he’s got timing, he’s got speed, he’s got technique, he’s got head movement and he’s got the WBA lightweight title and if he wins this fight, he’ll win the WBO lightweight strap. He fights a man named José Pedraza - a man who has only been beaten once (the same amount of times as Lomachenko) so this fight could go either way.

Prediction: Vasyl Lomachenko (Round 7; TKO)

December 15th: Canelo Alvarez Vs. Rocky Fielding

Onto this middleweight clash now and it’s Canelo Alvarez taking on Rocky Fielding. Fielding has only suffered one defeat and that came to Callum Smith who recently beat George Groves. However, this defeat came over 3 years ago and Fielding has improved massively since. Don’t rule Fielding out completely but he’s fighting Canelo - a man who beat Gennady Golovkin, a man I thought couldn’t lose.

Prediction: Canelo Alvarez (Round 4; TKO)

December 22: Dillian Whyte Vs. Derick Chisora

This should be a really exciting heavyweight clash between - let’s face it, two titans. Whyte won the first fight but since then, Derick Chisora has got a new manager: David Haye. This is his first fight since the haymaker deal and it’s going to be absolutely fascinating to see how this goes. I think Whyte will win again but I don’t see this one going the distance.

Prediction: Dillian Whyte (Round 11; TKO)

December 22nd: Josh Warrington Vs. Carl Frampton

This fight is also on the same night as Whyte/Chisora but to be really honest, I think this will do better PPV numbers as it’s a more intriguing fight and also its got a really great undercard plus Tommy Fury will be making his professional debut, this is an exciting night for boxing. I don’t see this fight ending by knockout or stoppage, I see this going 12 rounds and I think Frampton has this.

Prediction: Carl Frampton (Unanimous Decision)

December 1st: Deontay Wilder Vs. Tyson Fury

Right. This is the biggest fight of the year and to be realistic, it could go either way but I’m saying Tyson Fury. Wilder has been unstoppable - but so has Fury. The thing will gets me is Wilder has fought boxers but Fury hasn’t fought a man like Wilder who swings and swings, it’s in the name, Wilder is WILD. If Fury keeps his composure and doesn’t crack under pressure and crack because of Wilder’s furious shots, he has this won.

Prediction: Tyson Fury (Unanimous Decision)

But what do you think? Do you agree? Feel free to tell us on twitter @ThingsCombat, this has been Josh and that’s my predictions for December.
