AEW Dynamite Review (November 27th)

It's the Thanksgiving Eve edition of AEW Dynamite as this show came in with a loaded card! We were in for matches including a bout to award the first ever Dynamite Diamond Ring, anticipated rematch from All Out, and a World Championship Match for the main event! Stacked card indeed, but was the delivery successful? Let's find out!

Show began with a so called Thank You Celebration to AEW World Champion Chris Jericho! Soul Train Jones introduced Jericho and it was quite hilarious as Jones was too excited that he couldn't say his name at first, but he finally did and Jericho came out to a huge ovation from the crowd. Jericho proceeds to share a little bit of the bubbly with Jones then felt generous enough to give fans a gift of his own. He provided the fans $.50 off his bubbly t-shirt and man that was just great. Members of The Inner Circle came out to give Jericho gifts and Jake Hager's gift was the best of all as he showed up with a actual goat named Chris Jerigoat! Next a big present was in the ring and The Inner Circle opened it with the gift being an appearance by Jericho's father Ted Irvine! They would brag about the Ice Hockey team the New York Rangers as fans didn't appreciate any of this at all. Finally they had ring announcer Justin Roberts come in the ring to read a thank you letter to Jericho and as Roberts finished it, Jericho felt that Roberts' tone was a bit off and that he was unsincere about thanking him. The Inner Circle would then jump Roberts til SCU came out to make the save! Scorpio Sky got a taste of Jericho before their main event encounter and one thing that occurred during this run in was that Frankie Kazarian applied the Million Dollar Dream to Soul Train Jones! That was pretty cool to see.

The Lucha Bros Vs. The Best Friends

Good tag match between these two well established teams. Orange Cassidy accompanied the Best Friends to the ring while wearing a Turkey costume and that was just simply great. He would even do a top rope dive onto the Lucha Bros at ringside before the match even began! Chuckie T and Rey Fènix went up against each other then it came down to Pentagon and Trent. Both men exchange blows for a bit then suddenly Trent would grab a hold of Pentagon's arms then rolls him up for the win! Best Friends emerged victorious in what was a good all action tag match.

Bea Priestley & Emi Sakura Vs. Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander

Another good tag match as these women didn't stop at nothing to put on a good match. Emi was really going in here as she would work well together with Bea while beating down her opponents. Kris Statlander was impressive as well and hopefully she would be used more often going forward. After some back and forth action between Shida and Priestley, Emi applies the crucifix pin to Statlander for the win and is victorious along with Bea Priestley!

Cody Vs. Matt Knicks

Quick match here as Matt got a little bit of offense in but Cody took care of him shortly afterwards. Cody would apply the Figure 4 Leglock for the submission win then afterwards he immediately called out MJF! As everyone awaits for the arrival of MJF, suddenly we see a hole cut in the ring then two unknown guys popped out of the hole and began attacking Cody! Absolutely NO ONE knew who these guys were except for Excalibur which was odd. They were known as The Butcher and The Blade and they weren't alone as a woman popped from under the ring and she was known as The Bunny. The Bunny turned out to be Allie! This looks to be Allie's heel turn and we don't know exactly why she sent these guys on Cody. This could only make sense in one way: remember the last time we saw Allie? Allie was ambushed by Awesome Kong who was sent upon by Brandi Rhodes. Maybe this could be Allie's payback to Brandi? We'll see going forward.

PAC Vs. Kenny Omega

Very good match between these guys as this was their anticipated rematch since All Out. Right out the gate, these guys went to war with one another! Kenny would deliver his vintage ariel attacks and PAC would return the favor with some ariel attacks of his own. Kenny would nail the V-Trigger multiple times to knock PAC off his feet and he looked to have the match won until PAC made a comeback. After a couple of exchanged holds, Omega would surprisingly roll up PAC for win, becoming the second man in AEW to defeat PAC!

MJF Vs. Hangman Page

This was an okay match to be honest as it had its moments but overall wasn't too special. Page had MJF under control but unfortunately Warlord would stop his momentum any chance he gets by attempting to get involved. Later on Page had the match won til Warlord actually distracted him and causes MJF to hit the Cross Rhodes, or as Jim Ross called it the Double Cross, and MJF would pick up the win! Afterwards he was to be presented the Dynamite Diamond Ring by DDP! DDP admits that even though he didn't want to do it, he would present the ring to MJF but he would shake his hand first. He extends his hand for a handshake but MJF would take his piece of gum and put it in DDP's hand! Warlord would then get into his face and DDP would then get into a scuffle with the two of them before officials broke it up. This was kind of underwhelming because it should've been somewhat of a big deal for MJF. I don't even know how this ring for play put for him going forward but I'm sure he'll come up with a way to make it entertaining.

Next we have Dustin Rhodes come out for an interview and he simply states that he wants The Inner Circle. Members of the group would run down and Dustin fought them off for a bit until he's overwhelmed by each of them. The Young Bucks arrived to even the odds and they take out the group with stereo Superkicks and would stand tall for the feel good moment.

Chris Jericho (C) Vs. Scorpio Sky (AEW Championship)

Solid main event match and Scorpio was for sure supremely focused during this bout. Jake Hager came out during the middle of this but was cut off by Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels as they both attack Hager, sending him to the back. The rest of the match was Scorpio pulling out everything he had to win the gold and there were a few near falls that had fans on the edge of their seats. Scorpio tried rolling up Jericho again but Jericho knew of this and applied the Liontamer for the submission win, retaining the AEW World Championship! Afterwards, Jericho celebrates when suddenly we hear Jon Moxley's theme song and sure enough he arrives through the crowd! Moxley never entered the ring but he stared Jericho down to close the show, believing that this could be the next rivalry for the World Title.
