AEW Dynamite Review
October 9th 2019
Episode 2 of AEW Dynamite is now in the books and man, this was only the second episode yet they continue to showcase great wrestling! The card looked good and after what went down at the end of last week's premiere, fans were wanting more and they sure got it! Let's recap what went down last night!
The Young Bucks Vs. Private Party (AEW Tag Team Championships Tournament; Quarter Finals)
What an amazing opening match! These two teams put on a great match and what's crazy is that it's only the beginning of the tournament. So much high spots in this match, it's hard to recap them honestly. Young Bucks came off as heels in this match as they wrestled a bit dirty here, but still had the fans behind them at the end of it all. Private Party were no slouches at all especially Marq Quen who dived on both Young Bucks back to back with ease! Isiah Kassidy put up a great fight as well and took most of the punishment as Matt Jackson at one point Powerbombed him on the ramp! Young Bucks teased to hit the Meltzer Driver on Marq but Isiah pulled Nick Jackson off the apron then Marq rolled Matt up for the shock win! Private Party advances to the Semifinals and like I said, that was a great match and it's only the beginning.
Next we have the arrival of Jake Hager, Santana, Ortiz, Sammy Guevara, and AEW World Champion Chris Jericho. Jericho introduces each member of the group and I did have one grip with this. When he got to Jake, fans started chanting, "We The People!" Jericho, without saying their initials, took a shot at WWE. Once he did that, I groaned. I'm already tired of the shots being thrown at WWE and they really must cut that out. Other than that, Jericho talks about Cody as he will face him one on one at Full Gear next month. Jericho even took a shot at Dusty Rhodes as he said that he thought Dusty was a jerk. Jericho then finally reveals the name of his faction and the faction's name is The Inner Circle! An okay name I suppose.

Jimmy Havoc Vs. Darby Allin
The stipulation of this match was that the winner would challenge Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship next week on Dynamite. The match itself was good as Jimmy Havoc used any tactic he could to get an advantage over Darby. Darby bounced back, literally, and gained moment as Jimmy couldn't keep up with his amazing quickness. Darby nailed Jimmy with the Coffin Drop and picked up the victory, earning the opportunity to face Jericho for the AEW World Championship next week! That'll be an entertaining match for sure.
Riho & Britt Baker Vs. Emi Sakura & Bea Pristley
Decent Tag match here as Riho and Baker worked well together against their opponents. Emi and Bea were an odd pairing to begin with and they really didn't coexist that much together in this match. Bea and Baker brawled half of the time as they have a little bit of animosity together going back to All Out. Baker and Emi were the legal women as Baker had Emi locked in the Rings of Saturn then she applies the Mandible Claw during the hold, causing Emi to tap out! Britt Baker and Riho picks up the win then afterwards Baker and Bea continue to argue and they both had to be separated.
Next we have a quick interview with The Best Friends, Chuck Taylor and Trent Baretta. They were asked about their thoughts on facing Private Party next week in the Tag Title Tournament and they said not to ask them, but to ask their new friend Orange Cassidy! Cassidy simply gave them a thumbs up, and just like that everything's cool. Orange Cassidy is simply the best.

Jon Mosley Vs. Shawn Spears
PAC was on commentary for this match for whatever reason. This felt like more of a brawl than a match, but it was another good bout here. The match was mostly spent outside of the ring as Moxley was handling Spears for the most part. Tully Blanchard got involved half of the time as well, even at one point throwing Moxley to the steel steps! Shawn took over from there and had Jon down with some rest holds til Jon finally fought back. Shawn attempted to hit his finish a multiple times but Jon escaped them and after one final attempt, Jon finally nails him with the Paradigm Shift for the win! After the match, suddenly Kenny Omega appears with a barbed wire bat and a barbed wire BROOM in his hands! I've never seen a barbed wire broom before so that was really interesting. Moxley exits the ring and confronts Omega, then Omega hands him the bat and the two have s standoff! Suddenly, PAC runs up from behind Omega and nails him in the back of the head with a chair! Moxley tries to confront PAC but he bailed, leaving Omega down and Moxley even threw the bat down and left.
Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara Vs. Dustin Rhodes & Adam Page
Good main event here! Both teams did well in their roles of the match and had the fans into it every step of the way. Adam Page took most of the beating as Jericho and Guevara handled him the most, but the MVP of this match was Dustin F'N Rhodes! Dustin got the hot tag and went to town on the opponents with great energy and it was amazing witnessing that. Dustin teased hitting the Shattered Dreams on Jericho but Sammy had the referee distracted and this caused for Jake Hager to come in and cheap shot Dustin. Jericho then nails him with the Judas Effect for the win. Afterwards Jericho, Guevara, and Hager attack Dustin some more then Page comes in for the save as he takes out Hager and the two brawled. Lights go out then suddenly Cody arrives and attacks Jericho and Guevara! Santana and Ortiz comes out and takes out Cody then MJF arrives with a chair! He teases that he's gonna hit Cody, but because of his loyalty towards him, MJF goes after Santana and Ortiz with the chair but then gets taken out by Jericho with the Codebreaker. The Young Bucks arrive to make the save next and it was total chaos at this point! Jericho tries to leave when out of nowhere, Darby Allin arrives on his SKATEBOARD and attacks Jericho! Fans were going nuts as Allin laid waste to Jericho even striking him with his board then joins the faces in the ring. Jericho lastly grabs a mic and states that he'll deal with Allin next week then Cody at Full Gear. What a way to end the show!
