5 Potential Opponents: Gennady Golovkin
I always thought Gennady Golovkin was unstoppable and then he suffered 2 controversial decisions with Canelo Alvarez - first fight being a draw and then the second fight being a decision victory for Alvarez. Since that day in September, Canelo Alvarez has won a fight and is scheduled to fight again in May. However, Golovkin has stayed silent and we still don’t know when he will fight again but if he does, then these are 5 potential opponents.
5) Demetrius Andrade
We start off with the WBO middleweight Champion, Demetrius Andrade and Andrade is 27-0. Golovkin Vs. Andrade would be a fantastic fight and I definitely think we will see the fight take place at some point and I hope Golovkin fights him next. Since Canelo is fighting Daniel Jacobs, you can have Golovkin Vs. Andrade and the winners fight each other.
4) Jarmell Charlo
Next up on the list, Jermall Charlo. Charlo is 28 years old and is the current WBC interim champion and I think it’d be a good test for Charlo. If Charlo could overcome Golovkin then he can fight Canelo but if Golovkin wins, then he can fight Canelo. This one just makes sense.
3) Canelo Alvarez
I’m tired of saying Canelo Alvarez’s name so let’s get him out the way. Canelo has been on top of the boxing world for a while with his last loss being back in 2013 - almost 6 years ago and that loss was to arguably the greatest defensive boxer of all time, Floyd Mayweather Jr. I think I speak for a lot of the boxing community and say that I’d be up for Canelo Vs. GGG 3.
2) BJ Saunders
In my opinion, BJ Saunders is the dark horse of the middleweight division and if he stops making stupid decisions, he can really make it far in the weight class as he’s already beaten prospect, Chris Eubank Jr. Saunders is really an elite level boxer and hopefully he can sort his career out and get back on the right path. Saunders Vs. Golovkin is one of my dream fights and would be incredible and a hard fight to predict, I really hope this fight happens sometime down the line.
1) Daniel Jacobs
Daniel Jacobs is scheduled to fight Canelo Alvarez on the fourth of May and since GGG is still taking a break, he could possibly fight Jacobs next later in the year. Jacobs and GGG gave previously fought where they went the distance and I think it’d be good to see them run it back.
