5 Fights That Could Be Announced At The Special Press Conference
Tomorrow we see a UFC press conferences and it’s one of the big ones too which means we’ll see what fights are coming up in the rest of 2018. Here at AllThingsCombat.com have compiled a list of fights which we think will be announced come Friday.
Max Holloway (C) Vs. Brian Ortega (UFC Featherweight Championship)
Out of all the fights on the list, this is most likely. I’m no medical expert so I don’t know how long Holloway is out for but if I had to guess, it could be 2 months which means, he could fight in December and have a 8 week training camp. This fight will most likely take place at UFC 231 - possibly the main event (with Namajunas defending her belt under this fight) or the co main event with a fight being ahead of this. Ever since seeing the schedule for the rest of the year, I thought that UFC 231 would be a stepping stone between 230 and 232 so since 230 is an MSG card and 232 is a Vegas show, 231 is just kinda filler.
George St Pierre Vs. Anderson Silva
I have heard this fight being rumoured and I don’t know how likely this fight is. I imagine that George St Pierre will fight again this year and him fighting Anderson Silva would be an amazing fight between arguably two of the greatest MMA fighters in history. In an ideal world, this fight would’ve happened like 8 years ago but better late than never and this fight would be happily welcomed in any UFC card.
Daniel Cormier (C) Vs. Brock Lesnar (UFC Heavyweight Championship)
I’m not saying this fight will happen in 2018, but this will most likely be announced on Friday and the fight will take place in 2019. I don’t understand how Lesnar gets a title fight after being tested positive in his most recent fight but money speaks louder than rankings. I’m not a Cormier hater, in fact I really like Cormier and he is definitely my favourite UFC fighter. This is going to be a fantastic fight when it happens.
Cris Cyborg (C) Vs. Amanda Nunes (C) (UFC Women’s Featherweight Championship)
Cyborg has the women’s featherweight championship. Nunes has the women’s bantamweight championship. It’s time to fight and this is heavily rumoured to take place at UFC 232 and I’m really hoping this fight takes place. I don’t know what title this is for, if I had to guess - the featherweight title. Because most of champion verses champion fights tend to be for the heavier belt. This will probably happen.
Khabib Nurmagedov (C) Vs. Conor McGregor (UFC Lightweight Championship)
Yes, I think Conor McGregor Vs. Khabib Nurmagedov for the UFC lightweight championship will be announced on Friday and it’s going to be good. If this fight doesn’t get announced on Friday, I will be disappointed.
