10 Things You Didn’t Know About: Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua is arguably the most popular boxer there is at the moment and there’s many reasons why. For starters, he’s the WBA, WBO and the IBF heavyweight champion, he’s one of the best heavyweights there is and he’s just a fantastic boxer. Joshua’s next fight will be at Wembley on April 13th but as of writing, his opponent is still not named. Anthony Joshua has been boxing professionally since 2013 but there’s still a lot of things you might not know about the man who is 22-0.
10: Joshua’s PPV Record
Joshua has fought on PPV several times - 8 times to be exact. In total, Joshua’s PPV buy record combined is a grand total of 6,781,000, almost 6.8 million PPV buys. His highest PPV numbers were against Wladimir Klitschko which totalled to 1,532,000. Joshua’s most recent was 1,113,000 - these numbers physically frazzle my brain.
In perspective, Joshua has more PPV buys than Amir Khan, Gennady Golovkin, David Haye, Canelo Alvarez, Ricky Hatton, Wladimir Klitschko & Tyson Fury. I predict Anthony Joshua will easily surpass 10 million PPV buys by the time he retires.

9: Brick Layer To Heavyweight Champion
Before Joshua turned to boxing, Joshua worked as a bricklayer who just as the name suggests, laid bricks. He went to Vegas for a training camp and put the brick laying job to rest.
Joshua says if he didn’t find boxing, he’d still be a brick layer to this day.

Believe it or not but there was a time where Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury sparred back in Joshua’s amateur days.

7: Joshua out for the count
Staying on track about Joshua’s amateur boxing career and it’s time we talk about the time he got knocked out. Joshua didn’t have a flawless record in his amateur career unlike his perfect 22-0 professional career.
Anthony Joshua wrapped up his amateur career at the record of 40-3. Two of his losses were decision losses and the other one being a TKO. The TKO came to Mihai Nistor - a Romanian Boxer. Joshua didn’t finish laying down, he was finished standing up. 43 fights with 40 wins is really impressive for an amateur boxer and something Joshua should be proud of.

When you think of Anthony Joshua, you might not think about chess. When you think of chess, you might not think about Anthony Joshua. However, Anthony Joshua is a big fan of chess and is apparently really good at it too.
Joshua picked up the hobby from former heavyweight boxer, Lennox Lewis who was also insanely good at the game. Maybe when Joshua hangs up his gloves, he can pick up chess as his new lifestyle.

1: The Rematch With Klitschko?
After the first encounter these two had, the audience was excited at the idea of a rematch. It would allow Klitschko to show the world it was a fluke and he’s still the real deal and it would allow Joshua to show the world, he’s the future of boxing.
The rematch was talked about worldwide and Joshua said himself; “I don’t mind fighting him again, if he wants the rematch. Big respect to Wladimir for challenging the young lions of the division. It’s up to him, I don’t mind. As long as Rob thinks it’s good I’m good to go”. It was looking like the rematch was going to happen but on the 3rd of August 2017, Wladimir Klitschko would announce his retirement.
