10 MMA Dream Fights We Need To See
As an MMA fan, I like to think about fantasy match-ups - putting the best against the best and what would happen so that’s exactly what I did today. I’ve listed 10 of my dream MMA fights that can only happen in the octagon nowadays.
10) Daniel Cormier Vs. Brock Lesnar
Coming in at the bottom of the list we have DC vs Lesnar, this comes in at bottom only because I believe the build-up to this fight would be better than the fight itself. DC is far too skilled for Brock but it would still be a fun watch. Still, it would be a really enjoyable night I think and it gets Brock back in the octagon.
9) Robert Whittaker Vs. Israel Adesanya
This fight is more than likely to happen at some point but what a fight it would be. Adesanya has just come off a huge victory vs Kelvin Gastellum and has rightfully earned himself a shot at the title against Whittaker. The contrast in styles is what would make this fight fascinating.
8) Nate Diaz Vs. Anthony Pettis
This would be an absolute war. Both fighters are absolute warriors and would put on a show for the UFC fans. It could happen aswell as Diaz prefers to fight strikers although Pettis has had tendencies of grappling but Nate seems as if he is in no rush to return anytime soon. Still, this fight would be the dream and could easily be a FANTASTIC co-main event of any PPV, here’s hoping.
7) Ben Askren Vs. Tyron Woodley
It is highly likely this fight will never happen because of the relationship they have but it would be fascinating to see who would come out on top of this bout. Would Askren’s Wrestling be too much for Woodley or would Woodley’s power be too much for Askren?
6) Francis Ngannou Vs. Jon Jones
Could Ngannou be the one to finally knock out Jon Jones? Surely if anyone was to do it it would be him and with Francis so high on confidence right now this could be the fight that shows why he was so hyped up. This would be a dangerous fight for Jones as nobody wants to move up a class and fight a much larger competitor but if Jones is just as good as he is as light heavyweight then this would be a fantastic fight.
5) Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs. Ben Askren
This fight would settle who the current best grappler in the world is. Some would say it would be a boring fight due to a lack of strikes but to me this would be insanely interesting. Nurmagomedov has been wrestling bears since childhood and Askren has been wrestling in the olympics so the styles match up. Khabib is more sambo style but they both can wrestle for days and they probably would.
4) Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs. Tony Ferguson
Fifth time lucky, hopefully we can finally see this fight happen as they are arguably the two best lightweights in the octagon today. Tony Ferguson definitely deserves a title shot seeing as he never got one despite winning the interim belt so he might have to wait until Dustin gets his shot. Ferguson is 35 and surely it’s almost time for him to call it quits so I’d like to see this fight happen before Ferguson isn’t in his prime.
3) Daniel Cormier Vs. Jon Jones III
Hopefully this is DCs last fight and hopefully it’s at heavyweight, no one wants to see Jones fight at light heavyweight and I think it’s finally time he makes the step up.
2) Nate Diaz Vs. Conor McGregor III
I believe this fight will happen at some point in the future and there’s no doubt that it needs to happen to end the rivalry and the trilogy. I like trilogies so it’s time to end this chapter.
1) Nate Diaz Vs. Tony Ferguson
I do love my Nate Diaz, don’t I? Probably an unpopular opinion for the top of a list of dream fights but I can’t help but feel this would be chaos in the cage with neither giving up and blood everywhere. This would be a brawl and they would throw everything in this fight for be win. What a fight this would be.
